I’m tired and the heat here in my office (which I have no control over) is way too hot and I feel light headed and sleepy…oh so sleepy…..zzzzzz

Sorry.

I was surfing the diaries and came across lunardwarf, Check him out. He’s cool. He was reminiscing about all sorts of stuff, and it got my overheated, overtired brain drifting down memory lane. I am trying to remember things from 35 - 40 years ago, as well as things that seem like yesterday, but in actuality was more like 25 years ago. Shit.

I remember ever so vaguely when the first man walked on the moon. I was over my cousin’s house, and I couldn’t have cared less. I was 5 years old at the time and didn’t realize what was going on. But I remember it.

I remember the Watergate hearings and being pissed that they were pre-empting the good shows.

I scour my memory and I remember stupid TV shows “When things were Rotten”. “Planet of the Apes, the series” “Bridget loves Bernie” I remember the first episode of “Happy Days” and how my mother thought it may not be appropriate for kids because the episode talked about how to take a bra off a woman.

I remember the last episode of MASH. I didn’t watch it. I was out with my girlfriend and it was our anniversary. I do remember the roads being almost deserted and the restaurant empty. The waitress was shocked to see us. EVERYONE was watching MASH. Except us.

I remember “Welcome Back Kotter” and how it was a big debate. Who was cooler? Fonzi or Vinnie Barbarinie.

I remember All in the Family and Archie Bunkers Polish jokes.

I can vaguely remember Cigarette ads on TV. I remember the Camel ads showed a man who said “I’d walk a mile for a Camel”. He had a hole in his boot.

I remember the Carol Burnette show.

I remember movies like “Ol Yeller” and “The Yearling”

I remember when Franken Berry cereal first came out.

I remember “Pong” I remember my dad buying a Pong set at Sears

I had over 100 records. LPs. Vinyl. My sister had a huge box of 45s.

I remember leaded gas.

I remember the Kinks singing a song called about gas called “A dollar a gallon” and how people were shocked that gas might actually go over $1/gal. That. Funny. I think cigarettes cost 75 cents then. Its 25 years later: Cigs are now $5.00 a pack. Gas is $1.90 a gallon.

I can remember before there was cable and trying to tune in a few shows on UHF. Do you remember Tin foil on the rabbit ears and only 3 networks?

I remember Bud Man.

HR Puff N Stuff anyone?

I remember Regan getting shot. The Day John Lennon died. I was at my aunts house when I heard that Elvis was dead.

What do you remember?
