Well, the freebie hot tub is up and running. After spending $100 bucks on sand and patio pavers, $450 to my “discount” electrician (who I swear makes up price quotes by looking around your house and guessing how much you are willing/can afford to spend), the thing is full of water. It is hot. The jets are blasting away. My electric meter is going faster than a cricket on crack.
It’s pretty cool. I’ve been going out around 9:00 at night, grabbing a drink and staring at the stars and watching the steam billow off the tub. I lose track of time. Maybe it’s the steaming heat, or perhaps the Jack Daniels, but what seems like 5 minutes turns out to be closer to 45 minutes. I blame the intense heat.
The literature says it’s a 5 person tub.
Bullshit.
If you were to sit 5 adults in there, you’d be knee-to-knee. Kinda like sitting in the “way back” of a 1970’s station wagon with the fold up seats. Can I get an “amen” for a 1974 Griswold Green Ford Country Squire (with fake wood trim) and the vinyl flip up seats in the waaaaay back?
Amen. Here’s to all those childhood family vacations, in August, driving for 5 hours without AC stuffed in wayback next to the entire luggage. My folks would refuse to open the rear tailgate window even a crack. They claimed it was too dangerous. I think I have heat induced brain damage from those trips. And a trick knee, too. I’m not bitter.
My wife likes the freebie tub too. Except now, she tells me we need tiki torches, and to landscape around the tub, and re-do the back room that leads out to the tub, which will include flooring, walls, ceiling cabinets, towel racks, robe hooks, mini bar, curtains, which will then make the hallway look like shit, which will need new walls, and closet doors and trim and light fixtures which leads out to bar/game room which of course will need to be completely overhauled, and that means the TV room would then need updating……
Damn. This free hot tub is gonna put me in the poor house.
