2004-11-09 - 2:51 p.m. I have a busy few days coming up. I was finally able to pick up the hot tub I mentioned a few weeks ago. It was a lot of work. We had to disconnect the electrical connections and then load the thing onto a trailer and a haul it across 3 towns. When I got the hot tub to my place, my brother and I spent the afternoon laying pavers for the thing to sit on. We finally got the thing off the trailer and onto its new patio. All that is needed now is some electrical connections and about 400 gallons of water. I’ve got a call into my electrician and I am hoping that within a week or so I have the thing running. I am dreaming of snowy New England nights, sitting our under the stars in my whirling, bubbling hot tub. I have never owned a hot tub and I don’t know if my expectations are reasonable or how much I will use this thing, but as I mentioned in a previous entry, it was given to me as a gift and I think it will be a good opportunity to find out if this is something I’d really like. If so, I’ll probably invest in a new, bigger super duper one. But for now, this thing should be fun. I also broke down and purchased a doo-hickey that sucks up and mulches leaves. I am hoping that this thing works as advertised. I’ve got a huge yard and aprox 200000000 tons of leaves that need to be picked up... Ahhh, autumn in New England. You gotta love it. This cyclone rake attaches to your lawn tractor and sucks up all the leaves, and grinds them into teeny, tiny pieces that can easily be dumped into your neighbor’s yard. The good news is that this super rake/vacuum thing is scheduled to be delivered Thursday, which I have off. Cool. The bad news is: It comes unassembled in 7 boxes. It’s quite possible that I won’t have this thing assembled until NEXT fall. I was hoping to have the weekend free to finally finish up the lawn and outside yard work before it got too cold, but my lovely wife just called and reminded me that we are booked this weekend. Damn. We’ve got to drive down to MD and attend her uncle’s, grandson’s birthday. Arrrrrrgh. Not that I am against family things, but we are just too far behind schedule with everything and we were really counting on having this weekend to ourselves. My wife’s uncle is quite the wealthy man. He’s also the world’s most self centered, egotistical, rude son-of-a-bitches I’ve ever met. He’s a real bastard. But, the family on my wife’s side is not too large, and as much of a pain in the ass this man and group pf people can be, I'll give up my weekend and put up with their shanigans, all for the sake of family harmony. It is very important to her uncle that we go. If we bag this, we will be SOL. We will never hear the end of it and will be the on the uncles eternal shit list. You know me, I live by the creed “Family First” I also live by the creed “Don’t piss off any family member worth 20 million dollars”
